About Us

Brooklinn lives in a two-bedroom apartment with her parents and older brother Skyler. Her mother, Fawn, is disabled and on oxygen. Fawn is frequently in the hospital due to health challenges. Her brother Skyler has a traumatic brain injury that makes it difficult to understand him. He is very close with Brooklinn and a good source of information about her likes and dislikes, etc. Brooklinn's dad Quincy is not as involved in her caretaking and does not drive. The family has very little money and has limited ability to take Brooklinn out into the community due to Fawn's health as she is the only one who can drive. Family are overall easy to work with.

How You Can Help

Although Brooklinn is primarily non-verbal, she has good receptive language skills. She is able to use some words and signs to indicate her basic wants and needs and she can respond to most questions with a thumbs up or thumbs down. The biggest challenge here is that a provider would likely feel uncomfortable working with her in their home, so they would need to feel comfortable taking her out into the community. They do live really close to the West Towne Mall and Brooklinn has a YMCA membership and we can fund other opportunities that the provider would like to pursue. Brooklinn's interests are fairly limited, but she does like getting out into the community. She is overall a fairly easy-going person but I think it will be a challenge to find activities that she would enjoy doing. It would be ideal if a provider felt comfortable bringing her to their home to let her do her own thing, but I understand that would be asking a lot.

I'm interested in working with Broooklinn!
