Cary is a sweet and affectionate 12 year old boy with developmental delays, Williams Syndrome and Autism. Cary needs toileting assistance and other help with daily living skills, tends to perseverate on what’s happening next and is very focused on preferred topics and activities (he loves to talk about chandeliers, ceiling fans and lawnmowers). He loves to dance to his favorite songs, “snuggle” and be silly. Outings to the grocery store, Menards or Home Depot or the car wash are a huge hit. Cary has two younger brothers and our family has learned that Cary needs 1-1 adult support to help him participate in activities. His caregivers have often become his biggest fans and love working with Cary. We would love to add to his support team.
We are looking for someone to help Cary exist in the world in a way that works for Cary. Head out to do your own grocery shopping and Cary would love yo come along, as long as he gets to visit his favorite aisles! Bring him to a community activity but be flexible to let him watch at a distance or take a break. Come with our family on outings and support Cary in case he needs to participate in a different way that his brothers or head out early. Take him to the pool or splash pad and be within reach while he works on his back float. Watch Cary jump on his trampoline and exchange jokes with one another. Playful, patient and caring caregivers will love the opportunity to expand their skills and experience working with an awesome guy with unique disabilities and needs.
