Our "tiny family" as Kennedy calls us consists of Kennedy, Dad (Joe), Mom (Jen), and our French bulldog puppy (Indy). We live in Waunakee. We encourage Kennedy to be as independent as she can be and do things on her own where possible. We also do everything we can to encourage her to be social and integrate into her school, our neighborhood, and the community. We LOVE to listen to music, watch movies, go swimming, and spend time together! Kennedy is a fun loving and absolutely delightful young woman. She is smart and capable and has one of the best personalities you'll ever encounter. She will want to engage with you immediately and get to know you. Her love for life and having fun is just infectious. Jen and I also love getting to know our respite providers and caregivers. We want to understand what you like and how we can help you help Kennedy and help us. It really is a team effort for us and we are beyond grateful for the wonderful people that take on this challenging and important work.
We want someone that gets to know us and is comfortable with us getting to know them. It sounds cliche but we really do come to think of many of our providers as extended family members. We would like to work with someone that is comfortable taking the lead with Kennedy. While we are always available to assist we also don't like to overstep. We trust the judgment and instincts of our providers and want to collaborate with them. We are also looking for someone that likes to have a good time since Kennedy won't have it any other way! The only other "requirement" or strong preference is for the provider to have a driver's license and be willing to assist with taking Kennedy to after school therapies and practices, etc.
