About Us

We have a wonderful 13-year-old, Olivia, who is looking to have a new respite worker support her who loves to play Barbies, color, go to the playground and play tag, bake cookies, eat chicken tenders, read, draw, and play with our two dogs, Albert and Lloyd. Olivia’s is smart, funny, witty, and sometimes a bit of a rascal who has Down syndrome, but is treated just like her two older sisters in our home. Daniela is a 16-year-old junior at Monona Grove High School and Gabriela (Gabi) is a 15-year-old sophomore at Monona Grove High School. They are both loving and caring to Olivia and they often include Olivia in different high school activities including Olivia is one of the MG Girl's Basketball Varsity Managers and sits on the bench with the team. Olivia is involved in Girl Scouts, middle school show choir, seventh grade middle school basketball, Miracle League baseball, and summer swim team, but most of all she loves her family and being at home with her dogs and her Barbies. She likes to watch TV and movies, and she loves to go outside to the nearby playground or play at the local beach. She lives with her mother and father in their home in Monona that they moved to in 2020. They previously lived in Madison from 2007 to 2020 and they still love their old home, their old neighborhood, and their favorite spots in the near west side of Madison. Olivia also loves to swim in the summer as well as sing and dance with her karaoke microphone. We are caring and loving family who loves to have Respite providers become close to us and part of our family. We have been very blessed with previous Respite providers and we are still in touch with many of them as they have gotten married (all three girls were in their wedding), moved to a different job, and/or had their own children, but we are still in touch with them and they still come to Olivia's and her sisters' activities to cheer them on. We want our respite providers to feel comfortable and happy working with Olivia in our home. Mi casa es su casa!!!

How You Can Help

We are looking for an individual who is caring, flexible, and wants to build a strong relationship with Olivia. Olivia’s a very capable 13-year-old child who happens to have Down syndrome. We do not focus or discuss her Down syndrome because we believe that Olivia can do anything and everything she wants to do. She has amazed us in many ways throughout the past 13 years. We want to respite provider who supports her, but does not coddle her and someone who is open to try new things with Olivia. Safety is always a priority with Olivia, but she is not someone who runs away. She can be stubborn at times, but if you put the time in and build a relationship with her, she will want to do things with you instead of you trying to get her to do things. She is 100% relationship based and our family support supports our Respite providers in many ways. We look forward to having someone not only come to our home to support Olivia, but also someone who is interested in getting to know our family.

I'm interested in working with Olivia!
