About Us

Willow lives with her maternal grandmother and her grandmother’s significant other, Grandpa Craig. They have provided care for Willow for an extended period and regularly engage in family activities together. However, the grandmother often feels overwhelmed by Willow's behaviors, which impacts her sleep and limits her personal time. This is largely due to Willow’s fear of loss, which manifests in challenging behaviors towards her grandmother. Caregivers tend to be highly protective and sensitive to Willow’s distress, aiming to provide safety and reassurance to reduce feelings of abandonment or insecurity which can sometimes lead Willow to act the way she does towards them.

How You Can Help

The provider should possess strong skills in emotional support, patience, and the ability to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that can accommodate Willow’s emotional and behavioral needs, including managing fear, aggression, and difficulty expressing emotions. Additional desired qualities include: Experience with children who have experienced trauma and grief Ability to provide consistent and empathetic care with clear boundaries and reassurance Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect family dynamics Flexibility and patience in managing tantrums or fears, especially related to loss
